Flower ball

In the Oltean family’s studio, a few glass spheres are made almost every evening. First, a point is carved out of glass tubes, then the bulbous side of the point is liquefied by heating and inflated through the glass straw. Then the glass straw is melted down and artfully made into a hook.

In order to make a terrarium for plants out of the ball or to provide space for a floating flower, a hole must be burned in the ball with great care.

Use and disposal:

These hand-blown balls are fragile. Take care when washing with detergent and hot water. The balls are not dishwasher-safe. At the end of their life they end up with waste glass.
