Candle ball

In the Oltean family’s studio, a few glass spheres are made almost every evening. First, a point is carved out of glass tubes, then the bulbous side of the point is liquefied by heating and inflated through the glass straw. Then the glass straw is melted down and artfully made into a hook.

In order to be able to place a small candle in the glass ball, a hole must be burned in the glass ball with great care. An additional small hole at the top next to the hook allows heat and soot to escape. This combination of Christmas tree ball and candle combines candlelight and the glitter of Christmas tree balls. The candle ball can also be used as a flower ball.

Use and disposal:

These hand-blown balls are fragile. Take care when washing with detergent and hot water. The balls are not dishwasher-safe. At the end of their life they end up with waste glass.
