Horatiu runs a small workshop in Medias with his father Laurean Oltean and employee Mr. Nicolae Muntean. He works continuously on the development of new products made of glass and is firmly convinced that the hundred-year-old tradition of glass production in his hometown Medias should continue to exist in the future, despite adverse conditions.
Horatiu mainly deals with the development and manufacture of upcycling products from old bottles. For this purpose, the old bottles are collected from various nearby bars and restaurants. Then the bottles are cleaned, the labels are peeled off, the bottles are cut, sanded and polished. The result of this labor-intensive process are drinking glasses, storage glasses, lanterns and, more recently, planting glasses.
The diversity of the collected bottles makes each handicraft product a unique piece with a past life!
For the platform for traditional handicraft – FAIR CRAFT, Horatiu brings together many of the handicraft products made in Romania and he takes care of the bundled transport to Austria.
In addition, Horatiu is repeatedly at Austrian markets to demonstrate the craft of glass blowing, which he has learned in his childhood.
